Colonize the Moon, Decommonize the Earth
Terraform later..
MOON COLONIZE NOW!!

yes, that a wolf and some celestial bodies with nothing to do with the topic, but it's a cool pic, no?

If the long-term goal is to explore our solar system, the mid-term goal is terraforming the moon, the short-term goal has to be establishing a habitat for colonization on the moon. The original designs for moon buildings would have to be modular (like LEGO pieces), self-powered, highly insulated, fully pressurized with oxygen rich atmosphere, and easy to jimmy up with other modules.

Modular and Hookups
Each building module should have (at least) two contact points to hookup with other modules. The important thing is not to get stuck with a design that doesn't scale. Modules would probably scale horizontally across the ground, but shouldn't be limited to being built vertically. Each module will have to be securely fastened to the lunar surface. But it is important not to clump too many modules together. This is a high-risk development, if there is an explosion or impact from space debris (remember, no atmosphere), a module and all it's connecting modules share the same risk. It would be wise to have sets of modules separated by long tunnels or passageways that can be cut off in case of emergency and cut the losses.

Power
If the zero-point generator mentioned in the previous blog (http://www.terraformthemoon.com/blog/index.php?entry=entry080523-124455) successfully tests on Earth, it would be a huge benefit to fitting each module with one of these units, where solar technology can be fitted as a backup. Here's an article on it, I think they are afraid that the powers that be would want to shut them down. And rightfully so, free energy upsets a lot of fat cats.

Oxygen

Oxygen has two primary functions, breathe and burn. An oxygen rich atmosphere will reduce the odds of hypoxia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypoxia_(medical)) that is similarly experienced by mountain climbers at high altitudes. Rockets refueling on the moon require oxygen to combust the fuel that provide projection. So it's important that oxygen is sourced, mined, extracted and stored on the moon, oxygen self-sufficient. The process has been thought out, perhaps developing an extractor and sending a test would be a next step:

Thinking for yourself..
SEE SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!

Last weekend kicked off my summer in Toronto with several photo sets from a random mash up of events. Kicked off with a Pillow Fight down at City Hall.

Pppppppppppfffft... FEATHERS!!

Google this!
What time is it?
IT'S GOOGLE TIME!!

I've been getting a lot of comments on Facebook about the inplausibility of moon colonization. Well, of course it's implausible, we haven't reached the point where we're really trying!! Of course it gets me upset, we have so much inner turmoil on Earth because all of our interests are turned inward; get all the money, get all the resources, control all the people. The real peace of mind is in exploring space, at this point of time in what humans are able to comprehend, it's vastless. Earth needs a common goal to get everyone to stop thinking about themselves, and start thinking for themselves.

I'll continue to douse flamers cause this is what I believe in, there's a point in everyone's life that they find something they believe in and they stand up and revolve.

This was all over the Internet in 2007. Google just finished their $1M prize contest for launching a rocket into orbit and bringing it back to Earth safely. This was a precursor to the current $30M prize contest to fly to the moon and touchdown with a lunar lander. Their target date is 2014 to have privately funded moon landings. They are focused on sustaining humanity longevity by promoting innovation. Here are a couple of their competitions hosted by X Prize.

There is also a formalized career orientated option offered at the International Space University in France.

But I still believe the home-grown privatized projects are going to be more progressive at this point. University gives you a good knowledge base, but is slow moving and very traditional. They remain fairly theoretical and conservative with practical applications and investing their resources into topics such as space management and space law. We're still at an infantile stage when it comes to space, so I believe most of our progress will come from entrepreneurial radicals, non-conformists and mavericks. The norm isn't space, it's "who has a better cellphone plan". Sad.

Short blog, feeling a bit down and out, over and under. Ciao.

Alternative Energy
Low on Energy?
ALTERNATE!!

Alternate sources of energy are quickly becoming a concern. I did a quick search to see what kind of new updates have made the news.

This is a self-propelled generator that has the ability to power a household without any maintence for several years (repair is probably needed to replace moving parts).

ZERO-ENERGY
HOUSEHOLD GENERATOR

Speaking of generators, Tom Bearden has a very interesting development. Originally I was going to write a post on gravity after thinking over gravity wells, but after looking at video on gravity and the use of reiki in humans, I moved on to more conventional ideas like tangible energy sources. Check out Tom's page, it's interesting, he talks about how electromagnetic energy is abundant in the vacuum around us, and that energy can be collected from the vacuum. This idea has merit, it connects gravity, electromagnetism (resonance) and mass into an idea of energy production. Going back to reiki it makes "internal" sense, it's a very radical idea, but a worthwhile one to explore.

Harnessing the power of the sun just got smaller. 15,000x smaller, you might need a small field of mirrors to concentrate the sun into this solar panel, but it's huge steps. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

SOLAR ENERGY
BREAKTHROUGH!!

This is getting rather old, we need to see some progress with the salt water fuel ASAP. Especially by way of automobiles as it's easily the most mass produced polluter on the planet. The following 2 videos are about a recent finding on separating the hydrogen from water.

SALT WATER FUEL
ACCIDENTAL?

ALTERNATE FUELS
MOVING FORWARD

The following is a tribute to Stan Meyer, he invented something good, got sued by his investors, and quietly poisoned in a restaurant. Before John Kansas accidently discovered a way to separate hydrogen from water, Stan Meyer had already retrofitted a dune buggy with a water fuel engine. In the previous video you can see his twin brother carrying on his work.

WATER FUEL CELL

The legacy and project has been kept alive despite major automotive companies aspiring to maintain a strong bottom line.

I'll discuss gravity another day. Two days left to clean your towel!
